Our approach
The development of SANOPAL BASIC began with a simple question: How can the body be specifically supported in stressful situations without placing additional strain on it?
Together with a team of doctors, existing findings on cell function, energy production and micronutrient supply were analyzed and combined in an innovative approach. The result is a natural, highly bioavailable drinking solution with a measurable effect. The A5H active ingredient combination of alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG) and 5-HMF is based on sound findings on cell function, energy production and longevity research.
Study under extreme altitude conditions (4300 m)
Less loss of performance due to oxygen deficiency with AKG + 5-HMF
In a study with athletically active men under simulated altitude conditions (4300 m), it was shown that those who took AKG + 5HMF for 3 weeks lost significantly less performance than with placebo or classic antioxidants. The difference was measurable - and noticeable.

This study tested the effect of a 3-week supplement on physical performance in simulated high-altitude air - i.e. with a reduced oxygen supply. Three groups were compared: a placebo group, a group with classic antioxidants and a group with a combination of alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG) and 5-HMF.
The result: the placebo group lost 21% of their maximum performance, the antioxidant group 13% - but in the AKG + 5HMF group performance only fell by 6%. This means that participants with AKG + 5HMF were able to maintain their performance under oxygen deprivation more than twice as well as those with conventional antioxidants.

More performance, less cell stress
AKG and 5-HMF reduce oxidative stress and increase physical resilience
In a prospective, randomized study at the Medical University of Graz, the effects of a 10-day intake of alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG) and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) on patients with lung cancer prior to surgery were investigated. The study impressively underlines the importance of AKG + 5-HMF as targeted support for cell metabolism - with real benefits for regeneration, cell protection and healthy aging.
The result: the combined supplementation significantly improved physical performance (VO₂max +14.7 %, wattage +8.4 %) and measurably reduced oxidative stress compared to the control group.
There was also a clinical effect: patients with A5H supplementation required less intensive care time (-77%) and could be discharged from hospital more quickly (-39% shorter length of stay).

5-HMF increases the Hb-O₂ affinity in a dose- and gender-dependent manner. In combination with αKG, the oxygen binding curve is better preserved.

6-day administration of AKG, 5HMF and Mg reduces physical exertion with the same performance, among other things through a lower increase in lactate and improved antioxidant markers.
Effects of Antioxidant Supplementation on Exercise Performance in Acute Normobaric Hypoxia
After 3 weeks, the drop in performance in hypoxia was lower with α-ketoglutarate + 5-HMF than with placebo or antioxidant capsules - with better heart rate stability.
